Submit Case Request

Submit your case request on our website and complete the form. If multiple models are needed, indicate so in the section “relevant information”.

Upload A Scan

A Med Dimensions representative will reach out to you with an upload link for your CT scans- if you desire to use a different upload method, reach out to info@med-dimensions.com. We are looking for a CT scan resolution of 0.5mm to 1.5mm to produce the most accurate products we can.

Customize

A clinician can be as hands-on, or hands-off, in the model making process as they would like. For cases needing a cutting guide, a follow up meeting will be scheduled 2-4 days after the case request form is submitted to review the design. As soon as this is completed, you will receive a quote for the models.

Shipped to You

Once we confirm your location, your models ship direct to you! Med Dimensions has a clear shipping cost structure that is outlined in the quote you receive.

I recently worked with Med Dimensions to create two bone models to plan correction for a distal radial varus deformity in a young lab mix and a tibial angular limb deformity secondary to a previous fracture repair in a young Newfoundland. Obtaining bone models was extremely helpful and allowed for planning of the correction, appropriate implant selection and training of residents.  The models were very high quality, accurate and delivery was prompt.  The quality of the material was easy to cut and manipulate.  The team was extremely responsive and helpful throughout the entire process.

FAQ

How do I get a pre-operative model or cutting guide?

It’s simple! First, submit a case request through this link. Then, we’ll direct you to send your image via DICOM, our secure upload portal, or your preferred method of image transfer. We then convert the image, and 3D print the model. After it is cleaned and goes through our quality management system, it ships direct to you!

Who designs the cutting guides?

Our cutting guides and surgical tools are designed by our employed veterinarians, and consulted with our engineering team. Any surgeon requesting guides has the ability to be as involved as they would like to be in the design process

Med Dimensions also offers prototyping for new implants and other surgical tools.

What if you don't currently make an educational model that I want?

Have no fear- Med Dimensions offers custom educational models to fit your exact needs. We can build training and reference models for any specialty, no matter how simple or complex your needs are.

What do these products cost?

Pre-Operative Models

  • Our pre-operative models range from $250.00 to $600.00. This pricing is dependent on the model size, animal size, material, and quantities requested.

Surgical Cutting Guides

  • Our cutting guides range from $700.00 to $1,100.00. Factors that impact pricing are the complexity of the procedure and size of the patient. All cutting guides are autoclavable and made of a biocompatible resin. One pre-operative model is included with a cutting guide.

Educational Models/Trainers

  • Our training models have a vast range in pricing, depending on complexity and durability of a given model. Please contact a representative at sales@med-dimensions.com for a complete analysis of products and pricing.

What type of scan do I need to submit?

We are looking for a CT scan resolution of 0.5mm to 1.5mm to produce the most accurate products we can. If the slice thickness is any larger, there will likely be valuable data that is missing. We can still make these models with lower resolution images, but they will not be as accurate. We do not accept a higher thickness than 1.5mm to build cutting guides.

Can I autoclave these products?

Our models and guides are always made with biocompatible materials, and can be manufactured to be autoclavable by request. If you would like your model to be able to be autoclaved, please specify in your case request.

  • Online program to view digital models, surgical corrections/plans, and a bone density map. With this interface, clinicians will be able to interact with scans and digital models from their own computer screen, including: measuring, manipulation in a 3D space, and plane cuts/design.
  • In-House 3D printer. If you have the caseload, Med Dimensions has the ability to place a 3D printer in your hospital, controlled remotely by a Med Dimensions technical representative, with models printed with water dissolvable filament for rapid post-processing.
